The BGs are the statutory accident insurance institutions for the industrial sector. Their responsibilities encompass (or: include) all rehabilitation services rendered necessary by occupational and commuting accidents as well as occupational diseases. They control and co-ordinate them. This entails the provision of medical treatment, including medical, occupational and social rehabilitation benefits, nursing services and cash benefits.
