The database of BG regulations (BGVR database) contains all of the BG rules and regulations relating to safety and health at work plus numerous BG information sheets and technical rules, which can be searched and also downloaded in PDF format. New accident-prevention regulations and BG rules – and certain BG information sheets – can be viewed in PDF format under "News" before the print version is available.
The new BGVR classification system has three levels, described below.
- BG regulations (BGVs)
These accident-prevention regulations cite protection objectives and industry-specific or procedure-specific safety and health requirements. They continue to be legally binding and are adopted by the individual BGs’ representative boards. These regulations are subdivided into categories A (General regulations ⁄ OSH organisation at the workplace), B (Exposures ⁄ effects), C (Enterprise type ⁄ activities) and D (Workplace ⁄ work procedures). - BG rules (BGRs)
BG rules for safety and health at work summarise and flesh out the content of- governmental OSH legislation (laws and ordinances) and ⁄ or
- BG regulations (accident-prevention regulations) and ⁄ or
- technical specifications and &frasl, or
- experience gained in the BGs’ prevention work.
BG rules are intended to add detail to or explain certain governmental OSH laws and ordinances or accident-prevention regulations as well as offering solutions, in individual cases, for improving safety and health at the workplace.
Where BG rules flesh out governmental OSH legislation or accident-prevention regulations, they reflect the state of the art. - BGI information sheets (BGIs)
This level groups together special publications, e.g. for specific industries, activities, work equipment, target groups, etc. Whereas the documents in the first two levels are drawn up by BG expert committees, the individual BGs are responsible for the BG information sheets.
Recommendations on the testing of technical work equipment and recommendations relating to occupational medicine are not covered by this classification system. They are consequently classified separately as BG recommendations (BGGs).
