Foreigner's pension law
As far as accident insurance is concerned, the foreigner’s pension law provides that people who have suffered from an occupational accident or disease under the coverage of a former German accident insurance institution on a territory outside the present territory of Germany or within a foreign accident insurance scheme are entitled to compensation.

In the case of insurance coverage within a foreign accident insurance scheme, particular personal conditions, such as those applying to ethnic Germans who have recently resettled in Germany, have to be fulfilled.

Adhering to the principle of integration underlying the foreigner’s pension law, entitlement to benefits is usually determined by the national legislation on accident insurance (SGB VII). The amount of the pension benefits is however reduced by limiting the basis of calculation (the gross annual earnings).

The HVBG voices its opinion on general and specific matters as well as on court decisions on foreigner’s pension law as far as accident insurance is concerned and informs the Berufsgenossenschaften via circular letters.
