International pension payments
The amount of pensions remitted by the German Berufsgenossenschaften to insured persons in foreign countries in 2002 amounted to some 183,5 million euros. About 32,000 beneficiaries in different countries have been receiving these payments. With 40 million euros and 6,300 beneficiaries Turkey holds the leading position, followed by Italy with 29 million euros. The payments are subject to pertinent international agreements. The German liaison office for international aspects of accident insurance at the HVBG is responsible for the co-ordination of international contacts in this field.
